This casting is from the original seahorse I carved in ivory as a gift
to my mother. It was my first sculpture. I carved it when I was 22 years old.
I named the carving
because the original can be opened so you can hide things inside. A lock of hair from my
father's beard is inside the original carving. My daughter is named "Heidi," pronounced
the same as
but spelled differently. I always have to tell people that the names don't have
anything to do with each other.
The bronze casting of
is available in a variety of beautiful
patinas or colors. I wouldn't mind if you bought more than one to display together.
